January 24, 2008 -This is the 5th annual celebration of mentors and mentoring programs in Anchorage. Here's how you can help expand mentoring in our community.

  • Invite your mentor to the Celebration.
  • Encourage others to learn more aobut mentoring and the many opportunities available in Anchorage.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service
January 21, 2008 - Participation in the King Day of Service has grown steadily over the past decade, with hundreds of thousands of Americans each year engaging in projects such as tutoring and mentoring children, painting schools and senior centers, delivering meals, building homes, and reflecting on Dr. King's life and teachings. Many of the projects started on King Day continue to engage volunteers beyond the holiday and impact the community year-round. Learn More

January is National Mentoring Month
National Mentoring Month (NMM) highlights mentoring and the positive impact it can have on young lives. Spearheaded by the Harvard Mentoring Project, MENTOR, and the Corporation for National and Community Service, the firstever NMM was held January 2002. This month-long outreach campaign focuses national attention on the need for mentors, as well as how each of us - individuals, businesses, government agencies, schools, faith communities and nonprofits - can work together to increase the number of mentors and assure brighter futures for our young people.
